With a groundbreaking ceremony on 28 September 2023, the start of construction for the expansion of the logistics centre in Ampfing was ceremoniously sealed after an intensive planning phase.
With the 20,000 m² extension to a total area of over 35,000 m², Albert Kerbl GmbH is setting the course for a future of state-of-the-art logistics: the new building with storage space for 30,000 pallets will have an automated pallet high-bay warehouse, an automated shuttle system and state-of-the-art goods-to-man order picking stations. On the ground floor of the parking deck, which will be built next to the warehouse and offer space for 181 cars, additional storage space will be created for bulky items such as calf hutches.
In this way, Albert Kerbl GmbH wants to consolidate and sustainably expand its position as a leading international producer and wholesaler in the field of animal breeding and husbandry, as well as secure jobs in the region in the long term.
DYWIDAG GmbH (Linz, Austria) was commissioned as the general contractor for the implementation in the construction area, and TGW Logistics Group GmbH (Marchtrenk, Austria) will supply the intralogistics. With photovoltaics and geothermal energy, future-friendly technologies are used for regenerative energy generation. The photovoltaic system with a total output of 2 megawatts allows a large part of the electricity demand at the Ampfing site to be generated by the company itself. The cooling and heating of the entire site, including the existing building, will in future be provided by a groundwater heat pump, making the previous gas supply superfluous.
The implementation of such a project can only succeed with good, well-meaning partners, emphasised project manager Maximilian Leinfelder. The management of Albert Kerbl GmbH warmly thanked the authorities and companies involved as well as their general planner Dr. Shebl und Partner for the good cooperation. Completion of the building is planned for December 2024.
