Since March 2022, cattle farmers in Germany have been able to participate in the animal welfare initiative. A key criterion is the provision of scrubbing facilities for the animals. For calf-fattening farms and dairy farms, implementation is mandatory from the time the farm participates. For cattle fattening farms, the criterion is optional in the 1st programme phase, and it is expected to be implemented in a possible 2nd programme phase of the ITW Rind in 2025.
